Our Vineyards
On the right side of the Loire, our vines enjoy an ideal terroir made of three different types of soils:
- The « caillottes », limestone and gravelly soils, produce elegant and fruity wines, very pleasant when drunk young.
- The clay-limestone soils with its clay and shells gives wines its complex and intense aromas.
- The clayey-sand soils offer light and supple wines that are drunk young.
Two varieties are cultivated: the chasselas, to produce the AOC Pouilly-sur-Loire; and the sauvignon, a unique varietal of the AOC Pouilly Fumé.
No matter what the appellations and varietals are, we give them the same care. We work in a traditional way but we have been using supervised growing techniques in the vineyard for several years. This translates into the regular monitoring of the vines. We use organic fertilizers, but also manure from surrounding farmsteads. We use grass covers, and soils are worked mechanically to limit the use of herbicides.
We care about the environment and the supervised growing techniques have been adopted for some years now. And we have now obtained the High Environmental Value certification. This certification is proof of our engagement to protect the environment, the vine and future generations.
